Day 1: To Kibale Forest National Park
Start your 5 Days Uganda Chimpanzee & Gorilla Trekking Tour with an early morning breakfast. After that, your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Kibale Forest National Park. Have a stopover in Uganda’s tourism capital – Fort-portal town for your lunch. Fort-portal is called the tourism capital of Uganda because of its enormous tourist attractions. These include crater lakes, waterfalls, and cultural sites including the Tooro Kingdom palace, among others. After your lunch, proceed with your journey to Kibale Forest National park. Upon your arrival in the park, you will check into your lodge have dinner and rest for the night at Kibale Forest Lodge. Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Nature walk in Bigodi swamp
Have an early morning breakfast and thereafter, your driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to Kanyanchu Tourism center for briefing. The short briefing will basically include the guidelines for the chimpanzee trekking. You will also be assigned a professional ranger to guide you the excursion.
At around 8:00am, you will set off into the forest for chimpanzee trekking. The activity usually takes approximately between 2 to 5 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees. You will trek through the forested landscape until you came across the amazing primates. You will be rewarded with ample time to observe the chimps in their natural habitat. Enjoy watching the chimpanzees as they feed and jump around between branches in the high canopies.
Have your lunch at the lodge and later in the afternoon, embark on a nature walk through the Bigodi swamp. While on the nature walk, you will to encounter various bird species since Bigodi swamp is a famous bird sanctuary. You will also come across various primates like black and white colobus monkeys during the nature walk. Return to your lodge in the evening, have dinner and overnight at Kibale Forest Lodge. Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park en-route Queen Elizabeth National Park
On the third day of your 5 Days Uganda Chimpanzee & Gorilla Trekking Tour, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. After your breakfast. You will set off for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. En-route your journey, you will pass through Queen Elizabeth National Park for a short game drive. You will drive through the southern sector of the national park – Ishasha which is famous for tree climbing lions. The lions in this sector can easily be spotted on a good safari day.
The game drive will also give you opportunities to explore the park’s numerous wild animals including elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, water bucks, bush bucks and many others. Proceed with your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park. You will arrive in the evening, check into your lodge, have dinner and overnight at Rushaga Gorilla Lodge. Meals: Full board
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Batwa community encounter.
Have an early morning breakfast and transfer to the gorilla trekking headquarters for your briefing. During the briefing, you will be given guidelines for gorilla trekking and allocation of groups. You will also be assigned professional game rangers who will be guiding you through the gorilla trekking adventure. You are advised to carry your lunch as you are likely to spend up to 8 hours trekking gorillas.
At around 08:00am, you will start the gorilla trekking adventure. Your game ranger will lead you into the thick impenetrable forest while clearing your paths. As you trek for these enormous primates, you will find the gigantic mountain gorillas in their habitats. You will be allowed an hour to spend around these primates. Have a close encounter with the animals and silently observe them feed and nest peculiarly.
Later in the afternoon, return to your lodge to refresh and relax. Later in the evening, take a community visit to the native Batwa communities – also known as the pygmies for an exhilarating encounter. Enjoy interacting with the locals while observing their life styles. Take time to try out some of their foods and drinks for instance their local brew. Return to your lodge, have dinner and rest at Rushaga Gorilla Lodge. Meals: Full board
Day 5: Transfer to back to Kampala.
This marks the end of your 5 days chimpanzee and gorilla trekking Uganda safari. You will have a more relaxed breakfast and then set off for Kampala. You will have lunch en-route at Igongo Cultural Center in Mbarara then proceed. Have a quick stopover at the equator for photography and souvenirs.
After arriving in Kampala, your driver guide will drop you off at your hotel for the night. On the other hand, he can drop you off at Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight back home. All this depends on your flight schedules.
