The 7 days Murchison Falls &  Kidepo Safari will start with a wildlife safari to Murchison Falls National Park.  Murchison Falls National Park is the largest national park and has the largest concentration of wild animals and vast savanna grasslands. More to that, the park is a home to the mighty Murchison Falls formed on the Victoria Nile which you will visit and explore on your Uganda safari. En-route to Murchison Falls, you will have a stopover visit at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking.

After exploring the spectacular Murchison Falls National Park, you will extend your 7 days Murchison Falls & Kidepo Wildlife Safari to Kidepo Valley National Park. In Kidepo, you will enjoy several safari activities including game drives and cultural encounters. Kidepo Valley National Park is located in Northwestern Uganda in the Morungole mountains. The park is the most remote of all the national parks in Uganda. However, it is the most attractive to visit on a Uganda safari with lavish ever green vegetation and grasslands.

7 Days Murchison Falls & Kidepo Wildlife Safari Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick-up from Entebbe International Airport

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our driver/tour guide will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in Kampala for the night at Papyrys Guest House. Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park

After your early morning breakfast, your driver guide will be waiting for you at your hotel. You will check out of you’re the hotel and embark on your journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Enjoy the 6-hour journey as you travel through amazing landscapes, crop farms and plantations, small towns and villages on the countryside. You will have a stopover for your lunch at Kabalega dinner and then proceed. As you are nearing your safari destination, you will branch off and make a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino trekking.

On your arrival, you will be welcomed and briefed about the sanctuary, the rhino trekking adventure, and what to expect during the trekking. With the help of your assigned game ranger, you will head for rhino trekking. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary was founded to protect the endangered rhinos that were being killed by poachers until they were extinct. Today, the sanctuary acts as a home and a breeding place for the rhinos with about 36 rhinos. The sanctuary is also a home to several reptiles, bird species and wild animals. During the rhino trekking, expect to encounter the enormous rhinos and how they behave in their natural habitat. After your rhino trekking experience, proceed to Murchison. On arrival, check into your lodge, have dinner and overnight at Pakuba Safari Lodge. Meals: Full board

Day 3: Game drive, Afternoon Launch cruise and Hike to the top of Murchison Falls

Wake up early in the morning and go for your   early morning game drive. You will drive through the park to Nyamsika plateau to catch the predators before they go back into hiding. Look out for lions, spotted hyenas and leopards. You will also get to spot several giraffes, hartebeest, Cape Buffaloes, African elephants, warthogs, bush bucks, water bucks, and push pigs, among others. Return to your lodge for refreshment, and lunch.

In the afternoon, you will be transferred for your afternoon launch cruise on the Victoria Nile. The launch cruise will take you up to the base of the water falls. As you cruise towards the base of Murchison Falls, enjoy the abundant views of Nile crocodiles. Hippos and several other land mammals drinking water and bathing on the river banks. Victoria Nile also has several bird species including king fishers, shoebill storks, hornbills, and pelicans perfect for birding safaris. You will cruise until you’re close to the bottom of the falls. From there, you will embark on a refreshing hike to the top of the falls. As you hike, appreciate the evergreen vegetation that surrounds the falls. Enjoy more views at the falls, take photos and record these amazing safari moments at the falls. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Pakuba Safari Lodge. Meals: Full board

Day 4: Travel to Kidepo Valley National Park

On day 4 of your 7 days Murchison Falls and Kidepo Wildlife Safari, you will transfer to Kidepo for another thrilling wildlife adrenaline. After morning breakfast, check out of your lodge and embark on your journey to Kidepo valley National Park. Enjoy the spectacular sights en-route your journey. You will arrive in Kidepo in the evening, check into your lodge. Spend the evening relaxing at your leisure at Kidepo Savannah Lodge. Meals: Full board

Day 5: Game Drive in the Narus Valley and Visit to the Hot springs

Have morning breakfast and head for a full wildlife experience. You have a game drive in the Narus Valley. The Narus River Valley of Kidepo Valley National Park has a large concentration of wild animals. Expect to come across several herds of buffaloes, elephants, giraffes and bird species, among others. You are also likely to encounter some predators including cheetahs, leopards and hyenas. In addition, you will be impressed by the breathtaking evergreen natural vegetation that surrounds the Narus River Valley.

Return to your lodge for your lunch. In the afternoon, you will drive towards South-Sudan still in the national park to visit the hot springs. While at the hot springs, you will encounter amazing views of ostriches though their numbers keep decreasing due to high of poaching rates. Drive back to your lodge, have dinner and overnight at Kidepo Savannah Lodge. Meals: Full board

Day 6: Cultural Tour in Kidepo Valley National Park

You will have morning breakfast and then head for a cultural tour. You will hike Mount Morungole to visit the Ik people. You will drive to the starting point of Mount Morungole which is in the northern hills of Karamoja. From there, you will start your hike to the Ik community. Enjoy hiking through the tropical savannah hills with amazing views of landscapes and vegetation in the valley. The Ik people lived in Kidepo Valley National park before the area was gazetted into a national park. When it became a national park, they were misplaced to the lowland hills of Karamoja. They were also forced out by other hostile tribes which forced them to live in their present-day home in Mount Morungole.

While visiting the Ik people, you will get the ultimate knowledge about the small cultural tribe. You will spend almost the whole day in their community. Get to learn about their traditions, norms and ways of life. Get to enjoy their traditional dances, songs and folktales. Return to your lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight at Kidepo Savannah Lodge. Meals: Full board

Day 7: Travel back to Kampala/Entebbe International Airport

You will have a relaxed morning breakfast and check out of your lodge. Your driver guide will be waiting to drive you back to Kampala. You will have a stopover for an early lunch in Gulu and proceed with your journey to Kampala. Entertain yourself with amazing sights and scenery of how astonishing northern Uganda.

On your arrival in Kampala, your driver guide will either drive you to your hotel for the night or drop you off at Entebbe to catch your flight back home. All this depends on your flight schedule. This marks the end of your 7 days Murchison Falls & Kidepo Wildlife safari.
