Gorilla Trekking Rules and Regulations:

  1. Age Restriction:
    • Only persons aged 15 years and above are allowed to trek gorillas.
  2. Group Size:
    • Only 8 people are allowed to track a group of gorillas per day.
  3. Distance Maintenance:
    • While with the gorillas, maintain a distance of 5 to 8 meters.
  4. Guidelines Adherence:
    • Always listen to the guides’ instructions at all times during the gorilla trek.
  5. Prohibitions:
    • Eating, drinking, and smoking near the mountain gorillas are strictly prohibited.
    • Avoid littering the park.
  6. Group Allocation:
    • Stay in your allocated group at all times.
  7. Health Considerations:
    • If you’re feeling unwell or sick, please stay behind and do not trek gorillas. Gorillas are very vulnerable to human diseases.
  8. Photography Restrictions:
    • Flash photography is not allowed when taking pictures of the gorillas.
  9. Briefing Requirement:
    • Every trekker must attend a briefing from the park wardens at the headquarters prior to the gorilla trek.
  10. Permit Requirement:
    • To trek mountain gorillas, one must present a gorilla trekking permit.
  11. No Touching:
    • Do not attempt to touch a mountain gorilla, even when they approach you.
  12. Minimal Movements:
    • Avoid unnecessary movements while in the presence of mountain gorillas.

  14. Clothing Recommendations:

    • Copies of your work permits/diplomat ID for Foreign Residents.
  2. Footwear:
    • High-quality and waterproof hiking boots.
  3. Clothing:
    • Lightweight, waterproof trekking pants or trousers.
    • Long-sleeved shirts and sweaters (avoid wearing bright colors for gorilla treks).
    • Rain poncho or waterproof jacket.
  4. Protection Gear:
    • Gardening gloves to protect hands from thorns.
  5. Insect Protection:
    • Insect repellent.
  6. Photography Equipment:
